FORMER Australia midfielder Ross Aloisi has gone public about the possibility of coming to Glasgow to be part of new Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou’s backroom staff.
The 48-year-old, capped three times for the Socceroos, played in Switzerland, France, Austria and Italy during a playing career which spanned nearly two decades.
Aloisi, currently a coach with A League club Adelaide United, also turned out for Australia in Scotland during the Under-16 World Cup in 1989.
He shares the same agency as Postecoglou and told Australian TV programme The Real Football Show this weekend that he’s keen on working under him at Lennoxtown next season.
“All I can really tell you is that I spoke to my agent, Frank Trimboli, two days ago, but that’s about it,” he admitted.
“I know Ange reasonably well and have kept in contact with him over the years as well.
"But I think my focus is the task in hand and that’s a game against Sydney FC at the weekend.
“Everyone wants to work with Ange.
"I spent a bit of time with him up in Brisbane when he first started coaching the Brisbane Roar, the first season that they won the championship.
"Look, everyone wants to go to Europe and coach, but the reality is that there are obstacles that you have to cross and it’s not my main focus at the moment.
"Like I said, I would love, like everyone else, to go to Europe and coach but we have a big game coming up and we want to give it our best shot.”
Meanwhile, Ryan Christie has emerged as a transfer target for Leicester City, according to reports.

The Scotland playmaker is out of contract at Parkhead in January and is yet to commit to a new deal.
That has alerted former manager Brendan Rodgers who appears to have been thwarted in his attempts to sign Odsonne Edouard from his old club.
But the Daily Mail reports that Rodgers has approached Celtic for a second time to enquire about Christie’s availability.
He will face competition from French side Nice who had an £8m bid for the player turned down earlier in the year and potentially also Monaco.
